Everton are hoping to keep Kurt Zouma at Goodison Park.
Everton boss Marco Silva has told The Telegraph that Chelsea’s transfer ban won’t help the club’s attempts to land Kurt Zouma this summer.
The Toffees played out a 2-2 draw with Tottenham Hotspur on the final day of the Premier League season, securing an eighth placed finish in the Premier League table.
Theo Walcott and Cenk Tosun were on the scoresheet on Sunday, though it’s unclear whether those two Sam Allardyce signings will still be Everton players next season.
The duo could leave in Everton’s summer transfer plans, with Marcel Brands looking to offload some big earners whilst strengthening Silva’s squad with smart signings.
One top target is defender Zouma, who has spent the season on loan at Everton from Chelsea, and has impressed in Silva’s defence.
The Frenchman, 24, has made 32 Premier League appearances, picking up two goals and two assists, becoming a favourite at Goodison Park along the way.
Now, he’s set to return to Chelsea, and with the Blues being issues with a transfer ban, their transfer plans are in flux, and Zouma may be required to stay at Stamford Bridge, as Chelsea won’t be able to replace him.
Silva has now admitted that the situation is out of his hands, but did add that Chelsea’s transfer ban is something of a problem for Everton, even if they’ll do everything to try and get a deal done for the centre back.
“It is not something in my hands,” said Silva. “The situation at Chelsea doesn’t help us, but let’s see what we can do. I am sure we will do everything we can because he will be a key player for us,” he added.
