The Everton manager has a message for the Goodison Park faithful.
Marco Silva has told an Everton post-match press conference [YouTube] that the club’s fans need to realise their importance at Goodison Park.
The Toffees’ faithful were their side’s 12th man on Sunday as Silva’s side held Premier League title-chasing Liverpool to a 0-0 draw in yesterday’s Merseyside derby.
The Portuguese manager had called on his team’s fans to give a helping hand prior to the game.
Everton have won only two Premier League games at home since November, and Silva claims that record can and will improve if the Goodison Park faithful realise their influence.
He told a post-match press conference [YouTube]: “I asked them before the match to play with us, and they did that 100 percent. They were there, helping us come again.
“I know what they expect and it’s our obligation to give back, but if they realise how important they can be here at Goodison then they will help us win more and more.”
Everton host Chelsea, Arsenal and Manchester United on Merseyside before the season finishes and it’ll be interesting to see if Silva’s side can raise their game for those ones.
Overall it’s been a disappointing first season for the former Watford manager, who has won just 10 of his 29 Premier League games, but there is still time to enjoy a strong end to the campaign, with a little help from the supporters he hopes.
