Everton have certainly been better under Carlo Ancelotti than they were under their previous boss Marco Silva.
The Portuguese had a terrible first half of the campaign, which is a shame considering that he led the side to an eighth-place finish in the Premier League last season.
Silva’s biggest gift to Everton in his 18-month stay at the club has to be signing Richarlison from Watford almost two years ago.
The Brazilian has arguably been Everton’s best player in each of his two seasons at the club and his performances have brought in a ton of interest from other top clubs.
O Globo reported in May last year that Spanish champions Barcelona had scouted and were interested in signing Richarlison.
The rumours struck fear in Everton fans back then but Silva has reassured Toffees supporters that their star Brazilian will not be distracted by attention from bigger clubs.
He told Sky Sports: “I don’t know if it was true or not, you know how it is with rumours in football. When the market is coming, then you start to see the names of clubs for your best players.”
“I don’t know if it was true or not but what I do know is that when I was in charge of the player he was always really focused on Everton Football Club in that period, and he is the same now.”
That is reassuring for Everton fans who see Richarlison as their main man. The Brazilian committed his future to the club not too long ago which was brilliant news for the Toffees.
He, alongside Dominic Calvert-Lewin, has been Everton’s biggest asset in attack and they are one of the biggest reasons why the club isn’t fighting for relegation at the moment.
Everton fans will hope that Richarlison stays at Goodison Park for years to come. They will also be hoping that he helps the club end their trophy drought which, under Ancelotti, is a very real possibility.
