Everton boss Marco Silva has hinted that Ademola Lookman could start against Newcastle United on Wednesday night – much to the delight of Toffees fans.

Silva saw his side lose 1-0 at Liverpool on Sunday in dramatic circumstances, as Jordan Pickford fumbled Virgil van Dijk’s looping effort, allowing Divock Origi to head home the winner.

Everton were outstanding on the day though and must take some confidence into Wednesday’s clash with Newcastle United, with an instant response needed.

Silva may just consider some changes though, and one player really pushing for a game is forward Lookman, who came on as a substitute for Theo Walcott at Anfield.

The 21-year-old hasn’t started a Premier League game this season but has shown real promise as a substitute, including Sunday’s performance.

Signed from Charlton Athletic in January 2017 by Steve Walsh, Lookman almost left the club over the summer for RB Leipzig, but could now start out wide on Wednesday.

Silva has confirmed that Lookman is fit and ready to start, which has left Everton fans excited, wanting him to play ahead of Walcott as they believe now is the chance for him to really show what he can do – and backed him to destroy Newcastle full back DeAndre Yedlin.
