Marco Silva has admitted in the Liverpool Echo that Everton midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin has a ‘small problem’, after picking up an injury against Southampton.

Everton’s Scheiderlin limped off the pitch at the weekend, as Everton marched to a 2-1 win over Southampton at Goodison Park.

The Frenchman put in an encouraging display, but Silva admits that he could be left on the sidelines for a little while.

“It is still really early to say anymore about that but it looks a small problem in his muscle but we have to wait a few more hours to be right about it,” Silva said yesterday, as Everton await the results on the severity of Schneiderlin’s injury.

There had been calls for Scheiderlin to leave Everton this summer from sections of the supporters at Goodison Park, as he struggled last term.

However, Scheiderlin’s performance for Everton at the weekend suggested that he still has a part to play.

The midfielder was in impressive form against his sold side, as he helped Everton collect the three points.

The Toffees took the lead through Theo Walcott before Richarlison added a second, and even though Danny Ings hit the back of the net for Southampton, it turned out only to be a consolation for Mark Hughes’ side.
