Everton defender Leighton Baines has struggled for games at Goodison Park this season.

Baines has struggled for game time this season at Everton, and he appears to have lost his place in Silva’s starting line-up.
The experienced left-back has been forced out of Everton’s team by Lucas Digne, with the Frenchman in brilliant form since arriving in the summer.
But Baines may yet have hope of getting back into Everton’s starting line-up in a new position.
When Martinez was in charge at Goodison Park he suggested that Baines could become a defensive midfielder in future years.
And when it was suggested to Silva that Banies could play in Everton’s midfielder, he said: “It is possible.

“When Roberto told you that, what I can tell you is that you are talking about a player with fantastic individual qualities.
“His passing, his last decision, his crossing is amazing and it could be. To be honest, it is not something I have spoken to him about but it could be something that happens in the future.”
Baines’ task of breaking into Everton’s midfield still does not look to be an easy one.
Everton already have the likes of Andre Gomes, Idrissa Gueye, Tom Davies and Morgan Schneiderlin competing to play in their defensive midfield spaces.
Everton are next in action at the weekend, when they take on Tottenham Hotspur.
