Everton centre-back Michael Keane has been one of the Toffees’ stars of the season so far.

Marco Silva has told the Telegraph that Everton’s Michael Keane needs to improve on the ball.

Keane has made great strides at Everton since Silva took charge, and now looks to be a rock at the back for the Toffees.

Everton are yet to concede a goal this season, with Keane excelling alongside Yerry Mina at the heart of their defence.

Silva feels that Keane has already made a lot of progress over the past two seasons at Everton.

However, the Portuguese boss wants the £25 million centre-back (Daily Mail) to keep getting better.

“I knew how difficult it was for him at Everton in his first season. He is a player who has really tried to do everything I have asked of him,” Silva said.

“Not just at Goodison but every single day at the training ground. I asked him to deliver the idea, the main idea in our defensive process, and he did a fantastic season, the last one. Now I want him to do even better this season – he has the quality to do that.

“Of course he has to keep improving in some details on the ball.”

Everton’s success so far this term has been built on their defensive strength.

Silva’s side may not have looked particularly dangerous going forward, but they have been rock solid at the back.

Everton have claimed four points from their opening two games, with their next match coming against Aston Villa on Friday.
