Marco Penge is hoping to make his return to the game on the DP World Tour in the coming weeks after a spell on the sidelines having been encouraged not to fly.
It is impossible not to feel for Penge during his first season on the PGA Tour. The Englishman earned his card after proving to be Rory McIlroy’s closest rival in last year’s Race to Dubai.
Who will be the biggest name to miss the cut at the US Open?
Shinnecock Hills is going to be a brutal test!
The 28-year-old has had some bright moments in the States. He finished inside the top 20 at the Genesis Invitational at Riviera, while he was tied for fourth at the Valspar Championship.
Unfortunately, he has not been able to play since missing the cut at the PGA Championship last month.
Marco Penge confirms his next event after several weeks on the sidelines
Penge has been dealing with a health issue that has seemingly prevented him from playing at 100 per cent. He confirmed in the last few days that he will not be in action at the US Open at Shinnecock Hills.
And unfortunately, it seems that he remains slightly in the dark when it comes to understanding what has been causing the issues.

But, in better news, Penge has set his sights on his next tournament. He posted on X: ‘After having 5 weeks on the sidelines and a few more weeks to get things right with my team, I’m aiming to return in Germany on the @DPWorldTour after 5 weeks of no golf and working really hard on my health and body I’m ready to test the waters and get back doing what I love!‘
Why Marco Penge is not returning to the PGA Tour any time soon
The BMW International Open will be played at the start of next month. Penge finished in a tie for 11th at the same event last year. He followed that by finishing tied for second at the Scottish Open.
Of course, it is a disappointment that Penge will not be in action on the PGA Tour for some time. He is currently 94th in the FedEx Cup and only been able to show glimpses of his undeniable quality this season.
He went on to explain why he is unlikely to play a PGA Tour event Stateside until after the final major of the year has taken place.
Penge wrote: ‘For those wondering why not the PGA Tour, my specialist doesn’t want to risk flying me long haul while I’m still not 100% and risk a setback. Baby steps‘.
Hopefully Penge is indeed in action in Germany at the start of next month and can then kick on for the remainder of the PGA Tour campaign.
