Waghorn scored a hat-trick at Ibrox to help Mark Warburton out of a hole at Rangers.
Rangers manager Mark Warburton with Martyn Waghorn at the end of the match
Rangers striker Martyn Waghorn eased some of the pressure on the club last night, as he starred in a crushing win against Queen of the South.
Rangers won 5-0 at Ibrox – with Waghorn scoring a hat-trick in the final half hour. The result saw the Glasgow side book their place in the Betfred Cup semi-final. It also gave them a boost after the recent struggles at the club. Manager Mark Warburton has found himself under pressure after Old Firm humiliation and the Joey Barton affair – so this was a welcome distraction for Rangers fans.

One Rangers fans and former player was certainly impressed by Waghorn’s performance.
The man in question was Marco Negri, who sent this tweet to the Rangers goal threat this morning:
Waghorn even replied:
It was a great Ibrox night for Waghorn as he took his tally to eight goals from seven games for Rangers so far this season.
Negri certainly knows a thing or two about scoring goals for Rangers.
The Italian netted 33 goals in 26 games at the start of the 1997-98 campaign, finishing the season on 36 from 39 before injuries curtailed his Glasgow career.
But it is good to see he still keeps his eye on proceedings at Ibrox.
