Gooch featured for Sunderland in the Championship game against Wolves away from home at the Molineux Stadium.
The 21-year-old midfielder started the match and played until the first minute of injury time, as the game ended in a goalless draw.
Former Sunderland striker Gabbiadini has praised Gooch on Twitter for his performance against Wolves.
Over the course of the 90 minutes at the Molineux Stadium on Saturday afternoon, visitors Sunderland had just 28% of the possession, took one short which was on target, and earned two corners, according to BBC Sport.
