Leeds United fans on Twitter have loved what Liverpool’s James Milner has just posted on his social media channels.

A fresh-faced teenager donned the colours of Leeds in 2002 to make his debut in one of the biggest and best leagues in the world – and now the rest is history.

Many, many years later, not only is Milner still popular with the Leeds faithful, but he is also a Liverpool legend, well-liked at Manchester City and popular with the Newcastle and Villa fans – all the clubs he has represented.

Those at Elland Road would no doubt love the fairytale ending and to see the 35-year-old represent their club for one last time.

It can still happen and it would be some partnership if Milner was being coached by Marcelo Bielsa.

The versatile player may well be towards the end of his career, but that doesn’t mean that his engine isn’t as fast or as smooth as the player that is ten years younger than him.

Never say never to Milner coming back to Leeds, and even if he doesn’t, he will still be fondly remembered by his boyhood club.

What is interesting is that Milner’s contract at Anfield does expire next summer.

So, if he has no plans of retirement, or even signing a new deal on Merseyside, then those chances of working under Bielsa might just increase.

Until then, it’s something that the Leeds faithful can only dream of.

Here is a selection of Whites fans reacting to what Milner tweeted last night:
