Marcelo Pitaluga has taken to Instagram to express his delight at playing his first match for Liverpool against Leeds United at the Under-18 level.
Pitaluga joined Liverpool from Fluminense on a permanent contract in October 2020, as announced on the Reds’ official website.
The youngster played well for the Liverpool Under-18 side in the 5-0 win against their Leeds counterparts at Melwood on Saturday afternoon.
The 17-year-old goalkeeper is delighted to have kept a clean sheet and has revelled in the win on Instagram.
One for the future
Alisson is the first-choice goalkeeper at Liverpool at the moment, and that is not going to change for a while.
Pitaluga is only 17 years of age and is clearly a player for the future, and he is unlikely to be part of the first team anytime soon.
However, the teenager has the talent and the potential to make it big at Liverpool in the long run.

Roberto Firmino comments on Diogo Jota
Meanwhile, Roberto Firmino has given his take on Liverpool teammate Diogo Jota.
The Brazil international forward has raved about the Portugal international winger, who joined Liverpool from Premier League rivals Wolverhampton Wanderers in the summer of 2020 and has done well for the Reds so far this season.
Firmino told The Mirror about Jota: “Liverpool have a great squad of players, so earning a starting position here is not easy at all, and I am used to that.
“Diogo is an excellent footballer and another companion in the squad. We all work hard during the week and then the coach decides who comes out. So, I don’t have any personal battle with him.”
