Back in December 2018, Marcelo said that Isco, who has now been linked by the Times as a potential Everton target had more ability than any player at Real Madrid.

While the legendary Brazilian left-back made this bold statement during the season when Cristiano Ronaldo was playing at Juventus, that doesn’t change how huge a compliment that is.

After all, Los Blancos won the Champions League the season before, rounding off their unprecedented 3-peat. And now, in some ways, Marcelo thinks Everton could be signing an absolute superstar in former Real Madrid midfielder Isco.

Sean Dyche’s side are certainly in need of creativity, sitting in 19th place in the Premier League table, whilst having scored the least number of goals (15) out of any team in the country.

And none other than one of the game’s greatest left-backs of all time felt Everton target Isco was the most talented player at Real Madrid in 2018, which means he could well do more than a job at Goodison Park.

“We all know his [Isco] quality. For me, it’s him who has the most ability and quality on the pitch”, Marcelo told Reuters about his ex-Real Madrid teammate.

Everton should still avoid signing the Spaniard

Ultimately, the 5-time Champions League winner is a free agent only because his deal at Union Berlin failed to go through on deadline day.

However, signing Isco would not be smart transfer business from Everton, despite how highly Real Madrid icon Marcelo used to rate him 5 years ago.

After the 2018 World Cup where the ex-Malaga creator was undeniably class, injuries, being out of favour and a poor spell at Sevilla have meant his stock has plummeted.

Instead, the Toffees should look to build for the future and bring in a younger talent on significantly lower wages.
