Leeds United head coach Marcelo Bielsa has suggested to Leeds Live that Rodrigo struggled towards the end of the match against Manchester City.

Rodrigo – who can operate as a striker or as a winger – was in action for Leeds in their Premier League game against City at Elland Road on Saturday evening.

The 29-year-old did not start the match, but the Spain international came on as a substitute in the 56th minute.

The summer signing from Valencia made an immediate impact, as he scored the equaliser in the 59th minute.

Leeds head coach Bielsa has praised Rodrigo, but he believes that the Spaniard struggled with the pace of the game towards the end.

Bielsa told Leeds Live about Rodrigo: “Progressively he will show the great quality he has. Today, he had a very good start and perhaps the pace of the game hindered him towards the end of the half. When he is able to play at a good physical level for us he will make a difference.”

Stats

According to WhoScored, against Pep Guardiola’s City on Saturday evening, Rodrigo took three shots, played two key passes, had a pass accuracy of 77.8%, took 25 touches, and attempted one dribble.

So far this season, the Spain international has made one start and three substitute appearances in the Premier League for the Whites, scoring one goal in the process, according to WhoScored.
