Leeds United head coach Marcelo Bielsa has told Leeds Live why he decided to take off Raphinha against Everton at Goodison Park.

Raphinha is one of the best players at Leeds and has been superb for the Whites so far this season.

The 25-year-old winger has scored eight goals and provided two assists in 21 Premier League appearances so far this season.

However, Leeds head coach Bielsa decided to take off the Brazil international at half time.

Some Leeds fans would have been worried about a potential injury given that Raphinha was seen speaking to the club’s medical staff during warm-up.

However, Leeds boss Bielsa has explained that his decision to take off winger Raphinha was tactical.

As quoted by Leeds Live, when asked if Raphinha change was tactical, Bielsa said: “Yes”.

When asked why, the Leeds boss said: “I preferred James to take on the right role and Tyler to be the CF.”

Disappointing result

In our view, it was a disappointing result for Leeds.

The West Yorkshire club lost 3-0 to Everton at Goodison Park in the Premier League game.

The result means that Leeds remain in danger of getting relegated to the Championship at the end of the season.

Leeds will return to action next weekend when they take on Manchester United at Elland Road in the Premier League.
