Marcelo Bielsa watched Leeds Under-23’s in action against Crewe Alexandra today.
Leeds United went back to the top of the Championship table on Sunday afternoon, beating Wigan Athletic 2-1 to move back up to the summit.
The Whites impressed at the DW Stadium, and whilst Marcelo Bielsa was again taking the plaudits for a Leeds win, he wasn’t resting on his laurels on Monday.
Leeds’ Under-23’s were in action on Monday afternoon, taking on Crewe Alexandra in a game which saw a strong Leeds side take to the field.
Lewis Baker, Samu Saiz, Jack Harrison, Tyler Roberts and Jack Clarke all featured for Leeds, but they couldn’t land a positive result.
The Whites lost 3-1 in Cheshire, with few players doing themselves a favour in a bid to convince Bielsa that they can play in his starting line-up.
Intriguingly though, fans spotted Bielsa stood on the sidelines watching the game, studying his young and fringe players meticulously – as he is famous for.
Under-23 boss Carlos Corberan works closely with Bielsa, but the Argentinian decided to make the trip to Crewe himself anyway, in a move which certainly impressed fans.
Some were impressed with the commitment shown by Bielsa, admitted that they ‘love’ that he was spending his Monday afternoon stood watching young Leeds players whilst wondering whether former managers did the same – though in a 3-1 defeat, he may not have been too impressed with what he saw.
