Leeds United head into Friday’s clash against Derby County with a number of injury concerns.

Marcelo Bielsa the head coach

Leeds boss Marcelo Bielsa spoke to reporters today, ahead of his side’s clash with Derby County on Friday night, and provided a worrying injury update on two of his key men, as quoted by Leeds Live.

The Whites currently sit comfortably at the top of the Championship table, two points clear of second placed Norwich City, and many are tipping Bielsa’s men to go all he way this term.

Two key players for Leeds this season have been Barry Douglas and Pablo Hernandez, but unfortunately for Bielsa, it is likely that he will have neither of them to call upon when his side welcome Derby to Elland Road on Friday night.

The Argentine addressed the media today, and shared how Douglas definitely will no play against the Rams, whilst Hernandez is a big doubt, as quoted by Leeds Live:

Leeds United's Marcelo Bielsa during the Sky Bet Championship match between Nottingham Forest and Leeds United at City Ground on January 1, 2019 in Nottingham, England.

“Douglas is not in the group. Pablo Hernandez will find it hard in the next game. He could play on Friday. I can’t say 100 per cent he won’t play, but if there is even a small doubt I wouldn’t like to take any risks with him over another injury. If it’s up to him it’s a feeling.”

Fortunately for Bielsa, however, Leeds do have a strong squad, so he will have plenty of options to cover for those who are not fit enough to play on Friday night.

The Whites will be desperate for all three points following three consecutive defeats in all competitions, but that will be easier said than done against Frank Lampard’s stubborn Derby side.
