Leeds United take on Derby County in the play-offs on Saturday.
Leeds boss Marcelo Bielsa addressed the media today ahead of his side’s play-off semi-final clash with Derby County on Saturday, and shred the decision that he and his players have all agreed upon leading up to the game, as quoted by Leeds Live.
The Whites were embroiled in controversy not long ago, when Mateusz Klich scored against Aston Villa whilst Jonathan Kodjia was down injured.
Bielsa then instructed his Leeds players to allow Villa to score straight from the restart, however, earning praise from everyone within the game, and rightly so.
It seems as though the Argentine has sent a very clear message to his players this time around, however, that should they score in the same circumstances against Derby, they will not be allowing the opposition to immediately strike back.
Bielsa addressed the media today, and made his feeling son the matter very clear, as quoted by Leeds Live:
“I would like to make a short comment. We reached a common decision with the players, we decided to adapt 100 per cent to the rules but we understand that if we have one player down, the opponents don’t have to take the ball out of the pitch and we also think that if a player from the opponent is down we shouldn’t interrupt the play and kick the ball out.”
Leeds will be favourites to beat Derby over two legs, having beaten the Rams by a combined score of 6-1 during the course of the regular season.
Frank Lampard’s men should not be underestimated, however, and the Whites will have to give them the respect they deserve over two legs.
