Leeds United head coach Marcelo Bielsa has suggested to Leeds Live that Robbie Gotts could go out on loan in the summer transfer window.

Bielsa has said that if a good opportunity presents itself, then Leeds could decide to send the 20-year-old – who can play as a midfielder or as a right-back – out on loan for the 2020-21 campaign.

The Argentine has raved about the youngster, and has said that he has “big respect for Gott’s footballing abilities”.

Bielsa told Leeds Live when asked if Gotts could go out on loan: “If a good opportunity presents itself for Gotts to go out on loan then we will help to make this happen.

“And if he stays with us he will be in contention here as we think he’s a very valuable player for us.

“It’s very difficult to affirm what I have just said given that he’s had very few minutes in the first team. But it is true I have big respect for Gott’s footballing abilities.”

Leaving Leeds United on loan

Gotts has yet to establish himself in the Leeds starting lineup, but he has done well when he has been called up.

It is clear that the youngster is rated very highly by Bielsa, and a loan move to a club in the Championship for the 2020-21 campaign does make sense.

It is hard to see the Englishman get much playing time at Leeds this season, especially with the Whites now in the Premier League.

Playing regularly in the Championship this season would make Gotts a better and more mature footballer, and he could return to Leeds next summer ready for the first team.
