Leeds United head coach Marcelo Bielsa has praised goalkeeper Illan Meslier on BBC Sport (17:28).
Bielsa has said that despite Leeds conceding as many as 17 goals in the Premier League already this season, Meslier is performing at a high level.
The Argentine boss made the comments about the Frenchman after the Whites suffered a 4-1 defeat to Crystal Palace away from home at Selhurst Park in London in the Premier League on Saturday.
It was Leeds’s successive 4-1 loss in the league, with the team having gone down by the same scoreline to Leicester City at Elland Road in the league on Monday evening.
Bielsa told BBC Sport (17:28): “Despite all the goals we are conceding, he (Illan Meslier) has been performing to a high level.”
Need to improve
Meslier is a very good goalkeeper and has done relatively well for Leeds in the Premier League so far this season.
However, just like the rest of the team, especially the defenders, the Frenchman needs to improve and do better.
Leeds did play well in attack against both Leicester and Palace, but defensively they were far from impressive.
After all, conceding eight goals in two league games is a cause for concern, and Bielsa needs to address this during the two-week international break.
