Leeds United head coach Marcelo Bielsa has raved about Mateusz Bogusz to Leeds Live.

Bogusz was part of the Leeds squad for their Championship game against Swansea away from home at the Liberty Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

The 18-year-old attacking midfielder was an unused substituted, as the West Yorkshire outfit won 1-0, thanks to a late goal from Pablo Hernandez.

Bielsa has spoken highly of the Poland Under-21 international, and has said that the teenager has impressed him in training.

Bielsa told Leeds Live about Bogusz: “He is growing in training. He’s an offensive playmaker. I thought he would be an option for today’s match.

“He is more offensive than Shackleton and Gotts. For this reason, I considered him in case we needed him in the match.”

Positive comments

Bogusz joined Leeds in January 2019 and is rated very highly, and Bielsa’s aforementioned comments are very positive for him indeed.

Bielsa seems to think highly of the teenager, who will get the chance to play first-team football soon.

With Leeds looking likely to clinch automatic promotion to the Premier League, the Polish attacking midfielder will get chances in the first team next season, and when he does, he should make the most of them.

According to WhoScored, the 18-year-old played once in the EFL Cup for Leeds this season.
