Leeds United head coach Marcelo Bielsa has suggested to Leeds Live that he is not concerned about the injury situation of Diego Llorente.

Bielsa has said that the Spain international is unavailable for the Premier League game against Arsenal this weekend.

The 27-year-old Spain international central defender is recovering from a groin injury, according to The Athletic.

Llorente joined Leeds from Real Sociedad in September 2020 and has yet to make his debut in the Premier League for the West Yorkshire club.

The Argentine told Leeds Live when asked if Llorente’s injury is a concern: “What happened with Llorente was that he was injured, he recovered and on the training session that he started training again he had a relapse. He is now cured, but because of the relapse he is being given extra time to fully get back just to be sure.”

Staying patient

It is a sensible decision to allow Llorente to recover fully instead of rushing him back into action.

That could aggravate his injury and could put him on the sidelines for a longer period of time.

While the Whites could do with someone of Llorente’s quality and class at the heart of the defence given their successive 4-1 defeats in the Premier League, it does make sense to take it easy and not rush.

Leeds, who won automatic promotion from the Championship at the end of last season, are 15th in the Premier League table at the moment with 10 points from eight matches.
