Leeds United head coach Marcelo Bielsa has spoken highly of Mateusz Klich to Leeds Live following the match against Sheffield Wednesday.

Klich was in action for Leeds in their Championship match against Wednesday away from home at the Hillsborough Stadium on Friday evening.

The 28-year-old midfielder scored the equaliser for the Whites on 54 minutes and had a good game overall.

Leeds head coach Bielsa has spoken highly of the Poland international and has outlined the midfielder’s importance to the team.

Bielsa told Leeds Live about Klich: “He is a very influential player in the team. The space that he has now inside the team is linked to what he brings to the team.

“Actually, it’s more his responsibility. The work that I did with him, he was very patient during the pre-season work and he tolerated many mistakes I made evaluating him as a footballer.

“During the pre-season he even played as a centre-back so obviously was very patient with the analysis I did with him.”

Turnaround in form

Klich has been a key figure for Leeds so far this season, and it must be heartening for the Elland Road faithful to see him turn around his fortunes.

The Poland international struggled to make an impact at Leeds last season and spent the second half of the 2017-18 campaign on loan at FC Utrecht.

So far this season, the 28-year-old – who joined Leeds from FC Twente in the summer of 2017 for a transfer fee reported by The Yorkshire Evening Post to be worth £1.5 million – has scored four goals and provided two assists in 10 Championship appearances for the Whites, according to WhoScored.
