Leeds United could hand Eddie Nketiah his debut tonight.

Leeds United boss Marcelo Bielsa has told Leeds Live that new signing Eddie Nketiah will be involved against Salford City this evening.

The Whites took on Nottingham Forest on Saturday afternoon, playing out a 1-1 draw at Elland Road as Lewis Grabban cancelled out Pablo Hernandez’s opener.

The attention now turns to the Carabao Cup, as Leeds travel to take on newly-promoted League Two side Salford City in the first round of the competition.

Much of the focus of the game has been on Leeds challenging former Manchester United players Gary Neville, Phil Neville, Nicky Butt, Paul Scholes, Ryan Giggs and David Beckham, who part-own the club.

However, Leeds fans may be more interested in striker Nketiah, who joined the club from Arsenal on a season-long loan deal on deadline day last week.

Whilst fellow new signing Illan Meslier was on the bench against Forest, the same can’t be said of Nketiah, who wasn’t in the squad for Bielsa’s side.

The 19-year-old will have to learn Bielsa’s methods and get up to speed with the rest of the Leeds squad, and Bielsa has admitted that Friday and Saturday were just ‘evaluation’ days for the striker.

Bielsa did though add that he has now had two full training days with the squad, and whilst he doesn’t know how many minutes he will play, promised that Nketiah will be involved in some way against the League Two side.

“Friday and Saturday he did some evaluations, tests. Yesterday he did real football training, same as today. He trained normal with the group,” said Bielsa. “I don’’t know how many minutes, but the player will be involved,” he added.
