Forshaw is set to undergo surgery after damaging ligaments in his ankle, and he will miss six weeks.
And Bielsa admits the injury is a strange one, which will hurt Leeds’ starting line-up.
“It’s not very usual,” he said. “It’s bad news for the team because Adam is a big player. But we have other solutions for this position.”
Leeds have just sold Forshaw’s natural replacement in Ronaldo Vieira, so Bielsa really will have to have a re-think in central midfield now.
It could be that Mateusz Klich has a golden chance to prove himself at Elland Road now, after an encouraging pre-season.
Klich struggled last term and was loaned out for the second half of the season, but he may well feature in the opening weeks of the season.
Leeds take on Stoke City this weekend to get the Bielsa era underway, and it will be a tough challenge to start off against the title favourites.
