Leeds United are said to be aiming for three more signings, although a centre-back is not on Marcelo Bielsa’s wishlist.
Leeds have brought in Lewis Baker and are set to snap up goalkeeper Jamal Blackman on loan in the near future, but Marcelo Bielsa wants three more additions.
Leeds are keen to strengthen in every department, but there must be a concern that they are going to leave themselves short at centre-back.
Leeds have passed up the opportunity to challenge to sign Kyle Bartley, who had previously been linked, with Bielsa wanting a full-back over a central defender.
If Leeds do not bring in a centre-back then it seems they could be left desperately short of options in the position.
Bielsa, of course, does have a tendency to play full-backs in central defensive positions.
But Leeds have just two senior central defenders available currently, in the form of Pontus Jansson and Liam Cooper.
Jansson is set to be a key player for Leeds, but there are doubts over Cooper’s ability.
The Whites have not extended the loan of Matthew Pennington and they have offloaded Paudie O’Connor, which means youngster Conor Shaughnessy is the third choice centre-back in their current squad.
And not signing a central-defender could be a decision which Bielsa lives to regret as this season progresses.
