Marcelo Bielsa makes admission about Leeds starlet Jack Clarke

Jack Clarke was one of the Leeds United players who inspired their stunning turnaround on Sunday.

In comments reported by BBC Sport, Marcelo Bielsa has admitted that he did not expect Jack Clarke to be making such an impact for Leeds already despite knowing straight away that he was a good player.

Clarke was one of the key men that inspired the Whites’ incredible turnaround in their latest Championship clash. Bielsa’s men were 2-0 down to Aston Villa when the winger was introduced at the break.

The 18-year-old got Leeds’ comeback going, scoring a wonderful solo goal after running at the Villa full-back and cutting inside onto his right foot.

The youngster is still awaiting his first Championship start for the club, but seems to capture the imagination every time he steps onto the pitch for the current league leaders.

And Bielsa hinted that he did not expect the starlet to be making such an impact at this stage of his career.

“Jack Clarke gave enthusiasm to the team,” he said, as reported by BBC Sport. “When I first saw him, I thought he was a good player, but I didn’t think he would have quite the same influence he is showing now. He made an important contribution.”

Clarke is really forcing Bielsa’s hand. He is making things happen every time he is on the pitch, and it surely cannot be long before he is getting the chance to start games.

Bielsa may perhaps be wary of changing his role when things are going so well, but Clarke is proving to be an absolute revelation at Elland Road this term and is standing out in a Leeds side that are flying at the moment.
