Leeds United forward Eddie Nketiah is still waiting to make his first Championship start.

Marcelo Bielsa has told the Yorkshire Evening Post that he will be to blame if Eddie Nketiah fails at Leeds United.

Leeds have taken Nketiah on loan from Arsenal for the season, but the young forward has had to stay very patient so far.

Nketiah has not made even one league start for Leeds so far, with Patrick Bamford often picked ahead of him.

Bielsa has shown great faith in Bamford, but his first-choice forward has failed to score in any of his last six league appearances.

There have now been calls from supporters for Nketiah to start for Leeds, and these shouts only became louder in midweek, when the youngster netted a hat-trick on international duty with England under-21’s.

And Bielsa said: “Nketiah is always a player who is involved. He’s a player who at the moment isn’t between the 11 starting players. We haven’t been efficient. It’s natural that one striker who scores goals is a claim for the people…

“Bamford was recognised by the supporters before the last game (Millwall). If Nketiah fails here, it will be my fault.”

Nketiah and Bamford have both contributed with four goals this season, but the Arsenal loanee has reached that tally with much less game time.

It now seems that Bielsa faces a huge dilemma before Leeds’ next match over who he picks up-front.

Leeds are due to take on Birmingham City tomorrow, in a game where they are expected to pick up the three points.
