Leeds United are unbeaten after five Championship matches.
Marcelo Bielsa has lauded Pablo Hernandez for his ‘very difficult’ pass for Leeds United’s opening goal against Stoke City on Saturday afternoon.
The Whites recorded a comfortable 3-0 against Nathan Jones’ side, with Hernandez, after a lovely build-up, playing a first time through ball for the on-rushing Stuart Dallas, who slotted past the goalkeeper.
It was a typical Hernandez performance on Saturday, with the experienced man not being himself during Leeds’ win against Brentford in midweek.
Nonetheless, Bielsa appreciated Hernandez’s ability to find space at such a crucial moment and then release a pass that is inch-perfect for his teammate.
“Pablo did one pass that was very difficult to see and find,” Bielsa told his press conference, as posted by Leeds’ official YouTube account. “It’s not only about seeing the pass, but he did this pass in the only way that could harm the opponent and unbalance them.
“It was a pass difficult to see. It was a pass difficult to give to. And with timing that is not easy to do. Making a moment to be free is difficult when you are asked to arrive in one space at one moment.
“Making a moment to open up a space is not difficult. But arriving at one key space, this is a difficult thing. And when the ball have to arrive at the same moment, it’s even more difficult. Then they mix the experience of Pablo and the superior moment of Dallas to receive the pass.”
What Hernandez did against Stoke is what the Spanish playmaker has been doing for a number of years now and it is something that has resulted in him becoming a fan favourite at Elland Road.
If he can continue to showcase that form then it’ll only bode well for Leeds and their hopes of wanting to earn promotion to the Premier League.
