Leeds United are impressing under new boss Marcelo Bielsa.

When Leeds United appointed Marcelo Bielsa this summer, many believed that the deal for ‘El Loco’ would go one of two ways; the legendary boss would guide Leeds back to the Premier League, or he would live up to his nickname and produce a chaotic season at Elland Road.
The evidence was there to support either outcome. Bielsa has impressed over the course of his career, recently with Athletic Bilbao and Marseille, but struggled at Lille and quit as Lazio boss after just two days.
So far though, Bielsa’s time at Leeds suggests that it is more likely to be the former than the latter, as the Whites have started the season in superb form under the Argentinian.
The Whites sit top of the Championship table with four wins and two draws from their six games, remaining unbeaten in the league, though they did lose 2-0 at home to Preston North End in the second round of the Carabao Cup.
With five wins in his first eight games, Bielsa has remarkably reached an important point, as he has already managed to match his entire win tally from his 2017-18 campaign with Lille.
Bielsa won just five times in 19 games with Lille last season before being sacked, and unless Leeds suffer a staggering collapse after the international break, this season is set to be a huge improvement for the Whites boss.

By this date last season with Lille, Bielsa had won just once in five games and lost twice, whilst after eight games, his record stood at won one, drawn three and lost four, collecting just six points.
Things couldn’t be more different for Leeds right now, and whilst some had concerns about Bielsa following that spell with Lille, he seems to be putting it behind him and proving he is still one of the most impressive and innovative managers around – and will hope to keep his superb start going as Leeds look to hold on to top spot.
