Patrick Bamford has spent most of his debut season with Leeds United on the sidelines.
Marcelo Bielsa has told a press conference that Leeds United striker Patrick Bamford is getting progressively better, following an injury-hit season.
It has been a very stop-start first season at Elland Road for Bamford, a £7 million [Daily Mail] signing last summer.
The 25-year-old has only managed four games since August after his debut year in West Yorkshire was decimated by injury for the most part.
Bamford originally returned in December, scoring the winner at Bolton Wanderers on his comeback game, before finding himself absent again until this month.
The former Middlesbrough hitman will lead the line against Bolton tomorrow, and Bielsa believes that he’s ‘constantly’ getting closer to his peak condition.
“When you have been absent for such a long time you need time to develop your sports performance,” he told a press conference, via Leeds Live.
“He’s making constantly positive steps to reach his best level.”
Kemar Roofe is potentially out for two months, which puts a huge pressure on Bamford to not only stay fit, but to score the goals which keeps United’s promotion bid afloat.
Roofe, Leeds’ top scorer this season, is out with knee ligament damage and Bamford is now expected to shoulder the goalscoring burden.
The Whites are third in the Championship, two points behind leaders Norwich City with a game in hand.
