Leeds United defender Conor Shaughnessy has not featured in a Championship match all season.
Shaughnessy has not played one Championship match for Leeds this season, and seems to be some way down the pecking order.
Even with Leeds facing a defensive crisis, Shaughnessy has been overlooked, with other options favoured.
Aapo Halme has stepped into the Whites’ team in recent weeks, with Shaughnessy having to watch from the sidelines.
But Bielsa claims that he has seen enough from Shaughnessy to suggest he can have a future at Leeds.
The Argentine boss said: “There is a struggle inside the team to be a part of the group and when you get a position inside the team it’s not the final one. You can be among the 18 or 19 players and in some moments you can be out of this list.
“Shaughnessy has skills and conditions. He has been a little bit sanctioned by the injuries, but he has the skills to be inside the team.”
Shaughnessy made a handful of appearances for Leeds last season, but he appears to have been demoted since Bielsa took charge.
The Irishman actually made it onto the bench for two matches early on in the season, but he has not even been in a match day squad more recently, which has partly been down to his injury troubles.
At 22, Shaughnessy is reaching an age where he needs to be playing regularly, and unless he is given more game time then his future is sure to come into question.
Leeds are next in action tomorrow when they take on Queens Park Rangers at Elland Road.
