According to The Athletic, Bournemouth are in talks with Marcelo Bielsa over potentially becoming their new manager.

The Cherries are on the hunt for a new gaffer after sacking Scott Parker earlier this season, and while Gary O’Neill has been doing a fantastic job as the caretaker, Bielsa is now seemingly their top target.

Of course, as with any new manager arriving in the Premier League, this will have serious ramifications on the rest of the division, and interestingly, this appointment could actually help Leeds sign one of their long-term targets.

We’re talking about Noa Lang.

Leeds have been linked with Lang for years – most recently just two weeks ago, but Bournemouth are reportedly also keen.

However, you can expect Bournemouth’s interest in Lang to be dropped rather quickly if Bielsa is appointed.

Indeed, back in 2021, Leeds were very keen to sign Lang, but Bielsa refused to sanction any sort of deal due to the fact that he wasn’t convinced of his defensive qualities.

One thing is for sure, Bielsa won’t be taking the Bournemouth job if he doesn’t have the final say on transfers, and that probably means that Lang won’t be signed.

Bournemouth dropping their interest in Lang will somewhat clear the path for Leeds to go out and get the Dutch winger, and without meaning to, Bielsa may well be doing his former club a favour here.

Despite not being rated by Bielsa, Lang is a fantastically talented player. He’s a bag of tricks out on the wing and he has previously been compared to Zinedine Zidane, and you don’t earn that sort of comparison without having something special about you.

Bielsa going to Bournemouth could end up helping Leeds in their long-term pursuit of Lang.
