The Leeds United hitman will be available next week, according to Marcelo Bielsa.

Leeds United's Kemar Roofe during the Sky Bet Championship match between City and Leeds United at Liberty Stadium on August 21, 2018 in Swansea, Wales.

Marcelo Bielsa has revealed to The Yorkshire Evening Post that he expects Kemar Roofe to be fit for Leeds United’s trip to Birmingham City next week.

Roofe, a £3 million signing in the summer of 2016 [Yorkshire Post], has been absent for Leeds since February 13 following a knee ligament injury.

Bielsa later revealed that his leading scorer, who has netted 14 goals this season, would be missing for up to eight weeks.

It was a huge blow for Leeds’ automatic promotion chances, but the Argentine has claimed that the 26-year-old should be available for the trip to St Andrew’s next Saturday.

He told The Yorkshire Evening Post: “Roofe is not going to be ready against Millwall but he’ll be available after that.”

What a boost for Leeds. It’s been a terrible last two weeks for Bielsa, whose side dropped out of the top two after losing at home to Sheffield United, who moved second.

In addition to that, Pontus Jansson, United’s rock, also suffered a knee injury in that game to make it a double blow for the Elland Road club, with the Sweden centre-back sitting out international duty this month as a result.

But things are slowly but surely starting to fall into place, with The Yorkshire Evening Post also reporting that Jansson would be fit for today’s visit of Millwall after originally being ruled out for today and the Birmingham trip.

Leeds are third, one point behind the Blades with eight games to play.
