Leeds United are doing well in the Championship at the moment.

Leeds United head coach Marcelo Bielsa has suggested to Leeds Live that he wants to sign a winger and a goalkeeper.

Jamal Blackman’s return to Chelsea due to injury from his loan spell means that Bailey Peacock-Farrell is the only recognised established goalkeeper in the Leeds first team.

Samuel Saiz has left Leeds to move to Spanish club Getafe on loan until the end of the season.

Leeds head coach Bielsa has suggested that he is looking to bring in a winger and a goalkeeper in the January transfer window.

Bielsa told Leeds Live: “I don’t think that many players will come in. And I couldn’t tell you if actually there’s a player who will come or not.

“If the club can get players who are better than the ones we have to come and in the position where we suffered some injuries, for example Samu Saiz left, Pablo now plays as a playmaker and we need a winger.

“The injury of Jamal Blackman has not been covered by another player. These are the two positions that were solved at the start of the competition and now we’re trying to find another one.”

Need to act

Bielsa is one of the best managers in the world, and if he wants a winger and a goalkeeper, then the Leeds hierarchy should let him sign them.

After all, with the position that Leeds are in at the moment, they should be looking to make signings in the January transfer window in order to boost their chances of winning automatic promotion to the Premier League.

Despite back-to-back defeats in the Championship, Leeds remain at the top of the league table.
