Tyler Roberts is yet to make a Championship start for Leeds United this season.

Marcelo Bielsa of Leeds United looks on prior to the Sky Bet Championship match between Preston North End and Leeds United at Deepdale on October 22, 2019 in Preston, England.

Marcelo Bielsa has praised Leeds United attacker Tyler Roberts’ personality on Leeds Live, as he always demands possession.

Roberts has only had limited opportunities at Leeds so far this season, with the youngster yet to start in the Championship.

The 20-year-old has been used as a substitute in Leeds’ last five league matches though.

And Bielsa has praised Roberts for showing the bravery to get on the ball in tight spaces.

“Tyler is a player who likes being with the ball. He has a big character because he wants the ball,” Bielsa said.

“He always receives the ball in one place where it’s more probable that he’ll lose it than keep it.

“Most of the teams in front of the box have more than four players. Two centre-backs, two or three midfielders. So the player who asks for the ball there, he is probably going to lose it.

“So to ask for the ball there you have to have talent and character. Personality. And to give continuity to offensive. play, this is necessary.”

Roberts was an important player for Leeds at stages last term, but injury has affected his progress.

The Welsh international now will need to remain patient, as Bielsa is a manager who doesn’t like to make full scale changes to his line-up.

Although Leeds haven’t been at their very best in recent weeks, Bielsa has stuck by the players in his starting line-up.

Leeds are next in action tomorrow, when they take on Sheffield Wednesday at Hillsborough.
