Leeds United head coach Marcelo Bielsa has suggested to The Yorkshire Evening Post that Ryan Edmondson and Jack Clarke are in the same boat.

Striker Edmondson, 18, and 18-year-old winger Clarke – who is on loan at Leeds from Premier League club Tottenham Hotspur in the summer transfer window – is struggling for regular playing time for Bielsa’s side at the moment.

Bielsa has explained why the two teenagers are not playing regularly for Leeds, and has suggested that they will get their chance.

“It’s the same answer as for Clarke,” Bielsa told The Yorkshire Evening Post when asked about Edmondson. “We are working with a small group. We analyse everything the players do.

“We selected these players because we trust their skills. We think they have the skills to fight for one position in the team.

“As I said, after analysis I am selecting who is the best to play knowing I can be wrong. Making everything possible.”

Being patient

Bielsa does not change a winning side, and Leeds have been going strong in the Championship this season.

The Whites do have a strong squad, and competition for places in the starting lineup is fierce.

Edmondson is quite inexperienced, and the striker may not get a lot of playing time this season, especially if Patrick Bamford and Eddie Nketiah continue to deliver the goods.

Clarke did well last season, as the teenager made four starts and 20 substitute appearances in the Championship for Leeds, scoring two goals and providing two assists in the process, according to WhoScored.

The youngster will have to be patient, as the season is long and he will get chances.
