Leeds United were knocked out of the EFL Cup at the hands of Stoke City on Tuesday night.

Marcelo Bielsa has admitted that he’s ‘frustrated and disappointed’ for Jack Harrison after he missed a crucial penalty during Leeds United’s EFL Cup clash against Stoke City.
After the game finished 2-2, the contest went to penalties, with Harrison’s spot-kick hitting the post and resulting in Leeds suffering an early exit at the hands of a team they had comfortably beaten in the Championship only a few days earlier.
Nathan Jones’ side went 2-0 up in the contest, but in the second half, thanks to goals from Eddie Nketiah and Helder Costa, they ensured Bielsa’s side pushed the game beyond the 90 minutes.
Leeds’ second-half performance is a positive, as Bielsa made it clear that he’s not disappointed in Harrison missing his penalty, but he does feel for the individual.
Is Harrison disappointed? “The misser always feels disappointed because in the question you have the answer,” said Bielsa, as quoted by Leeds Live. “What can I say? The only thing is I am frustrated and disappointed because he missed a penalty, not with him, but for the player.”

At the end of the day, Leeds United’s main target is earning promotion to the Premier League and they’re not going to do that through the EFL Cup.
Therefore, Leeds supporters would have surely prefered picking up the points, as they did on Saturday, rather than progressing through to the next round.
Either way, Leeds did very well in ensuring they made something of the match because they were off-colour in the opening 45 minutes.
