Everton picked up a fine win on Wednesday night, beating Leeds United 2-1 at Elland Road.
The Toffees were dismal in their defeat to Newcastle United on Saturday, and needed to hit back with an improvement last night.
That’s exactly what happened as Gylfi Sigurdsson tapped home Lucas Digne’s cross, before Dominic Calvert-Lewin made it two.
Raphinha pulled one back for Leeds, but they just couldn’t find an equaliser as Everton ran out winners.
The game then became the Robin Olsen show as the goalkeeper made a number of fine saves, saving from Mateusz Klich, Raphinha and Jack Harrison in quick succession.
The Swede was brought into the side with Jordan Pickford unavailable, and he showed exactly why Carlo Ancelotti signed him back in October.
Olsen, 31, is playing for a permanent deal at Goodison Park having arrived on loan from Roma, and he seemed to impress Marcelo Bielsa.
The Leeds boss told Leeds Live that he felt his side did enough to score two or three goals, but it was Olsen who stood in their way with a fine performance.
“Our offensive game was enough for us to think we could have scored with the chances we had,” said Bielsa. “Normally we would score two or three goals,” he added.
