Adam Forshaw hasn’t started a game for Leeds United this season, but is it only a matter of time?

Marcelo Bielsa has revealed to a press conference. as quoted by The Yorkshire Evening Post, that Adam Forshaw is among those in contention to break into Leeds United’s first XI.

The 27-year-old is yet to start a game for Leeds in any competition this season, with all seven of his Championship appearances coming off the bench.

But Forshaw, a £4.5 million signing in January, missed the first month of the season through injury, yet is continuing to ask questions of Bielsa with a series of impressive cameos.

As it goes, his spike in form coincides with Samu Saiz enduring a rough patch at the moment, with Forshaw replacing the Spanish maestro after 57 minutes of the 2-0 win over Ipswich Town in midweek.

The Argentine coach told a press conference on Friday: “We have a small group and all the players are close to being the starters, including Pearce and Forshaw.”

A number of Leeds fans on Twitter would like to see Bielsa drop Saiz for this evening’s visit of Nottingham Forest, and the boss’s claim that the Liverpudlian is pushing for a starting spot means that the former Huesca playmaker is the most likely casualty if Forshaw does indeed come in.

As all Leeds fans know, Saiz is a class act, but the 27-year-old is yet to score in 14 Championship starts this season.

He is playing slightly deeper due to Mateusz Klich’s resurgence, and the Pole certainly won’t be getting dropped any time soon. If Forshaw is going to break into Bielsa’s XI then it has to be at the expense of Saiz at the moment.
