Arnautovic has been linked with a move from West Ham to United.
Marko Arnautovic’s Austria teammate Marcel Sabitzer has told OmniSport, as quoted by Goal, that the West Ham United forward should make the step up and join Manchester United.
The Mirror claim United are interested in landing the 29-year-old attacker in January, and is said to be keen to shell out £50million to lure the Austria to Old Trafford.
Arnautovic has become a fan favourite at the London Stadium since moving to West Ham from Stoke City in the summer of 2017, scoring 16 goals and creating 10 more in 49 league and cup appearances for the Hammers.
He has a contract with the east Londoners until the summer of 2022, but RB Leipzig forward and Austria teammate Sabitzer reckons Arnautovic is good enough to move to Jose Mourinho’s side.
“His performances in England the past few years have demonstrated his real class and I can see the same in terms of the national team,” Sabitzer said.
“That’s why I believe that he can make another step forward and play a major role there [at Manchester United]. I cross my fingers for him.”
Arnautovic has worked under Mourinho before, during a short stint at Inter Milan. He is currently on the sidelines after suffering a hamstring injury in the win over Cardiff City last week.
It remains to be seen when he returns to action, but United could consider luring him north in January as Mourinho looks to reinvigorate a struggling United side that sit way down in sixth place.
