Tottenham Hotspur’s first team are in action this afternoon, hosting Newcastle United in their third Premier League game of the season.

On Saturday though, Tottenham’s Under-23’s took on Arsenal at London Colney, with the two London rivals meeting in Premier League 2.

Spurs ran out 1-0 winners, beating their bitter enemies with a Rodel Richards goal in the second half, which will be encouraging for Spurs fans.

Those Tottenham fans who were tracking the game on Saturday may have noticed an interesting name in the Spurs side.

The Tottenham back line included Marcel Lavinier, who played as a trialist having been released by Chelsea over the summer.

Lavinier, 19, came up through the Chelsea ranks, and has been in the setups of England and Portugal given that he can play for either.

Primarily a right back, Lavinier can also play at centre back and will be looking to earn a contract with Tottenham after being spotted turning out for Lyon last month.

Lavinier can also play at centre back or as a wing back, with his versatility possibly appealing to Spurs, and time will tell whether he has done enough to earn a deal.
