Everton director of football Marcel Brands believes that signing Lucas Digne might persuade Yerry Mina to snub Manchester United for the Toffees, according to The Sun.

According to the British tabloid, Everton are set to sign Digne from Barcelona in the summer transfer window.

The Toffees will reportedly pay the Spanish and European giants a transfer fee of £22.5 million for the 25-year-old France international left-back.

Everton are also interested in Digne’s Barcelona teammate Yerry Mina, but so are Premier League rivals United, according to The Sun.

It has been reported that the Merseyside outfit’s director of football Brands believes that signing Digne could persuade the 23-year-old Colombia international to snub Jose Mourinho’s Red Devils for the Toffees.

Wishful thinking?

Everton are a big club, but United are much bigger and are a global powerhouse, and it is hard to see Mina joining the Toffees instead of the Red Devils if both the teams make offer.

True, the Colombian will have to fight for his place in the United starting lineup, but leaving Barcelona for United would be a sideways step in his career while moving to Everton from the Spanish powerhouse will be a step down.
