The agent of Khvicha Kvaratskhelia has been in touch with Everton regarding a potential switch for the £25 million Rubin Kazan winger, Toffees director Marcel Brands has told Russian publication Soccer.

On paper, at least, the 20-year-old speed-machine is a typical Brands signing.

Young, versatile, technically gifted and brimming with resale value, Kvaratskhelia has shot to fame with eight assists and four goals in the Russian Premier League this season, sparking interest from a number of clubs across the continent.

Leeds United director of football Victor Orta has already entered talks for a talented wideman who turned down a move to Bayern Munich in 2018.

And Brands has now confirmed Everton have also been offered the chance to sign a player valued at a hefty £25 million.

For now, however, Kvaratskhelia is not a name on the Toffees’ wish-list.

“These are all rumours. The agent just sent me his name yesterday asking if he was of interest to us,” says Brands, the man credited with unearthing Hirving Lozano, Dries Mertens and Sergio Romero during his time in the Eredivisie.

After yet another humiliating home defeat – this time against already-relegated Sheffield United – finding a player capable of easing the creative burden on the inspirational yet injury-prone James Rodriguez is a must.

It appears Kvaratskhelia, however, is unlikely to be the man tasked with solving Everton’s problems in the final third.
