Liverpool attacker is target for Barcelona.

Barcelona remain determined to sign Coutinho from Liverpool despite the fact he will be cup-tied for the Champions League.

Spanish newspaper Marca claim that Barcelona hope they will be able to unveil Coutinho as their player as soon as Monday (8/1).

Barcelona reportedly do have alternatives, but view Coutinho as their clear top target, and players within the club dressing room are ‘expecting’ his arrival.

Liverpool resisted Barcelona’s advances for Coutinho in the summer, and have a big decision to make this January too.

Losing Coutinho would damage their Champions League hopes considerably, as it would break up the ‘fab four’ he is a part of alongside Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane.

If Liverpool do decide to cash in, it would make sense to do it now rather than towards the end of the transfer window.

This would allow them more time to sign their own players, giving them a better chance of success, as clubs they would look to buy from will also want time to sign replacements.
