Celtic interim boss Neil Lennon may be in a fight for the job.

Neil Lennon, manager of Celtic, looks on from the dugout during the Ladbrokes Scottish Premiership match between Rangers and Celtic at Ibrox Stadium on May 12, 2019 in Glasgow, Scotland.

Celtic may have won the Scottish Premiership title again, and are close to a third successive domestic treble, but they’re facing a big summer.

The Bhoys don’t yet have a permanent manager in place, as interim boss Neil Lennon remains in charge having arrived after Brendan Rodgers’ exit in February.

Lennon has led Celtic to the title and into the Scottish Cup final, but some underwhelming performances and Sunday’s 2-0 defeat at Rangers mean he may yet miss out on the permanent role.

Celtic will be considering their options, and a host of names have been touted for the job, especially after that dismal Old Firm derby loss on Sunday afternoon.

Carlos Carvalhal and Chris Hughton are just a couple of names touted in the last 24 hours, and ex-Bhoys defender and assistant Marc Rieper has offered his view to The Scottish Sun.

The Dane has talked up the pressure of managing Celtic, and believes that Lennon knows the club inside out, so he will be able to handle the pressure if handed the job permanently.

David Moyes looks on during the Premier League match between Burnley FC and Brighton & Hove Albion at Turf Moor on December 8, 2018 in Burnley, United Kingdom.

Despite hailing him though, Rieper feels that David Moyes – a former Celtic defender – is a ‘great shout’ for the job, believing that he could be ideal as he has managed big clubs and knows all about Celtic.

“Nobody should underestimate the pressure of playing or managing in Scotland,” said Rieper. “From the outside, people will think Scotland is not a big league compared to some other countries. But there are very few places where one defeat leads to a crisis and that can be tough to handle.

“You can explain the pressure and the spotlight to someone, but you don’t understand how big it is until you are involved. Anyone coming in from another country to both Celtic and Rangers this summer is in for a culture shock. Lennon knows Celtic inside out. If he gets the job then he can handle the pressure. Moyes is also a great shout. He played for Celtic, he knows Scottish football and has managed big clubs,” he added.
