The Black Cats forward, on loan from Reading, missed the victory at Spotland due to a hamstring injury.

Sunderland on-loan striker Marc McNulty has taken to Twitter to congratulate the Black Cats on their 2-1 League One win away at Rochdale on Tuesday night.
The Reading loanee, who opened his goalscoring account for Jack Ross’ side at Accrington Stanley last Tuesday, pulled up after 50 minutes with a hamstring injury in Saturday’s win over Portsmouth.
Ross confirmed ahead of the trip to Spotland that McNulty was still nursing the issue and would not feature in the midweek game, though the injury was described as “relatively minor” and “hopefully he might be back sooner than expected”.
Sunderland coped well in his absence against Rochdale as Aiden McGeady opened the scoring for the visitors in the 28th minute and, although Callum Camps levelled five minutes later, Charlie Wyke grabbed the winner not long before the hour mark.
McNulty retweeted the Sunderland feed’s full-time update and graphic, adding his own short-but-sweet four-word caption:
Up next for the Wearside outfit is a League One fixture against AFC Wimbledon at the Stadium of Light this Saturday, while next Wednesday the Black Cats head to Premier League Burnley in the second round of the Carabao Cup.
