Lorenzo Savadori has backed Marc Marquez to bounce back this season, despite a slow start and growing gap to Marco Bezzecchi in the standings.
Marquez’s season hasn’t gone to plan so far. He’s down in fifth place, 36 points behind championship leader Marco Bezzecchi, and still trying to find his form.
Injuries have played a big part in Marquez’s struggles. They’ve kept him from being at his best, and he’s lost ground to the title contenders as a result.
The nine-time world champion has been open about his frustrations, admitting he hasn’t been able to perform at the level he expects from himself.
But inside Aprilia, there’s still belief that Marquez can turn things around. They haven’t counted him out yet, knowing how quickly he can shift momentum when healthy.
Lorenzo Savadori expects Marc Marquez to keep title race tight

Aprilia test rider Lorenzo Savadori recently discussed the MotoGP title race, which is currently being led by Marco Bezzecchi and Jorge Martin.
He explained that despite Marquez’s injury problems and below-par performances, he still sees him as a major threat to Aprilia’s hopes of winning the title this year.
“It’s hard to say. Marc is clearly a very strong rider. Let’s just say that his physical condition isn’t there. I don’t know exactly how he is, if he’s 100% or not.
“They say he’s suffering physically. He himself points out that he’s never suffered like this. Yet, I think it will be a close battle (with Bezzecchi and Martin), and in any case, it has always been close or at least he has been in the mix.”
Savadori isn’t alone in this view. VR46 team manager Pablo Nieto also labelled Marquez as the main rival to watch out for this season.
