Queens Park Rangers are still manager-less after sacking Steve McClaren.

Queens Park Rangers first team coach Marc Bircham talks during a press conference at Loftus Road on November 16, 2016 in London, England.

According to Talksport, Marc Bircham is desperate to be named Queens Park Rangers boss despite receiving an enticing offer to become a manager elsewhere.

Bircham is a popular figure at Loftus Road having enjoyed successful spells at the club. Most recently, the 40-year-old was assistant to Ian Holloway before Steve McClaren’s arrival as his successor.

It is said that the former defensive-minded player has made it clear to the club he is willing to work under a strict budget with the Hoops set to make further cutbacks, and he remains in contention after an impressive interview.

QPR are manager-less after sacking McClaren following a terrible run of form which has seen the club slide down the Championship table.

John Eustace has taken over the reigns on a temporary basis, but the caretaker boss recently explained how he has no intention of taking on the job full-time despite guiding the side to a 4-0 win over Swansea City.

Marc Bircham and team mates celebrate their win after the Nationwide Division Two match between Queens Park Rangers and Swindon Town at Loftus Rd on May 1, 2004 in London, England.

Bircham spent five years at QPR as a player and had a brief spell in charge as interim boss in 2009 alongside Steve Gallen while then manager Jim Magilton was on suspension.

QPR director of football Les Ferdinand is said to favour Tim Sherwood for the role, while Michael Appleton and Mark Warburton have also reportedly held talks with the club over the vacant post.
