Should Newcastle consider re-signing Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa?
Mapou Yanga Mbiwa is available, should Newcastle United move?
Newcastle United want to sign two centre-backs, according to The Chronicle, and might want to consider one of their former players.
Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa is wanted by Spanish side Malaga, who are attempting to sign him from Lyon.
Marca report Yanga-Mbiwa could be available for just £3 million, a real bargain for the versatile 28-year-old.
Mapou Yanga Mbiwa – Newcastle United and Anthony Pilkington
Yanga-Mbiwa made 29 starts last season including five Champions League appearances, and is vastly experienced.
He was controversially loaned to Roma by Newcastle in 2014 and later moved to French side Lyon where he has spent the past two seasons.
The defender spent two seasons at Newcastle and had mixed success, never really showing his best form which saw him help Montpellier to a shock Ligue 1 title, but he wasn’t a Jean Alain Boumsong disaster either.

At just £3 million, Yanga-Mbiwa would be worth a gamble, and would also be returning to a completely different club to the one he left.
Alan Pardew has gone and in his place is master tactician Rafa Benitez, who could be just what the centre-back needs to fulfil his potential.
In wildly overpriced transfer market, Yanga-Mbiwa could really be a bargain if all parties are willing to consider a move.
